Full Description:
Prevost to Clinton. Savannah. Regarding the unreadiness of Brigadier-General Patterson to march with his brigade (before the 5 March) due to flooding and the roads having become impassable. Advises that if His Excellency is in immediate want of this body of troops that transports ought to immediately be ordered round to embark them lest the present weather retard them if not altogether prevent his crossing. P.S. regarding the honour of acquainting Clinton that Lieutenant-Colonel Tarlton with the dismounted troopers are gone in boats with Mr James Frazer, appointed Commisary of Captures, to go through the islands in order to endeavour to remount themselves, but is unacquainted with the instructions given them by Brigadier General Patterson.
