Full Description:
Knyphausen to Haldimand. New York. Information that a large armament was to sail from Brest. Consisting of ten or twelve ships of the line and a considerable land force, their destination is supposed to be either Halifax, Newfoundland or Canada. Cannot send reinforcements to Canada for the want of a convoy but will send 1,000 men to Quebec. 4 copies of letter. Also news that Charlestown is taken and copy of coding.
