Full Description:
Clinton to Germain. Headquarters, Charlestown, South Carolina. Number 88. Discusses in detail the retaking of Charlestown from the rebels. There are taken seven General Officers, a Commodore, ten Continental Regiments and three Battalions of Artillery, together with town and country Militia, French and seaman, making in total about 6,000 men in arms. The Deputy Governor, Council and Civil Officers are also prisoners. Four frigates and several armed vessels with a great number of boats have fallen likewise, as have about 400 pieces of cannon, and stores.
