Full Description:
Knyphausen to Haldimand. Charlestown surrendered th 12th instant, with the whole army and navy which defended it. The reinforcement for Quebec sailed the 23rd Inst., consisting of the 44th and Regiment of Losberg, and a detachment of Brunswickers, under the command of Colonel Loos. A packet which left England on 13 April inform them that at the time no accounts were received of the sailing of the Brest Armament, and that their fleet destined to watch its motions was ready for sea. There has been general action in the West Indies between the two fleets since the junction of Admiral Rodney, and great reason to believe very much is in our favour. Letter accompanied with pages of code.
