Full Description:
Cornwallis to Clinton. Charlestown [Charleston]. Discusses the impossibility of weakening the force in this province, recounts in detail the recent events and movements, and the arrangements for advancing into North Carolina. Notifies of appointments and payments made, and explains the measures he has taken for establishing a government and securing the county by means of a militia. Sends five proclamations issued. Note regional place names associated with disappeared or displaced Indian tribes (e.g. the Pedee, Santee and Catawba peoples of South Carolina).
