The diversion in the Chesapeake will be of the utmost importance. The troops here have gained in reputation, but have lost in numbers. It is difficult to form a plan of operations, thinks he should get to Hillsborough, assemble friends and endeabvour to form a magazine for the winter. Innes has been wounded and deserted by the [Loyalist] militia, fears that Harrison will fail in the attempt to raise a corps, and reports a 'Great sickness'.
