Full Description:
Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Hughes to Clinton. Government House at Halifax. Difficulties in procuring such supply of provisions from the military stores in the garrison for the use of Indians in order to preserve them in their allegiance. Renders it absolutely necessary to apply to His Excellency and requests him to give directions to McLean to cause it to be issued from the army stores, the requisite quantity of provisions to prevent their going over to the Americans. Congratulates Clinton on the success at Charlestown [Charleston]. Promises to prevent any improper use of the indulgence requested for the Indian tribes.
