Full Description:
Germain to Clinton. Whitehall. Number 69. Discusses his uncertainty of Cornwallis's movements, as well as Clinton and the Vice Admiral's operations after the arrival of Rear Admiral Graves. Expecting the West Indies to be the principal theatre of the Naval War, have sent orders to Arbuthnot to send six ships of the line to the Leeward Islands, and the fleet that should have sailed the end of August is on its way to New York with recruits. Clinton is asked to give the necessary orders for the recruits to be taken care of until the St Lawrence River opens. Notifies that the queen has given birth to a prince.
