Full Description:
McLean to Clinton. Halifax. Takes the liberty of laying before him what has passed here relative to the accounts of Captain Spry. The extraordinary proceedure already mentions that the gentleman is suing him in the Courts of Common Law for the balance due. A final hearing cannot take place until April next at which he is concerned as Spry insinuates that it deprives him of the leave granted. It is doubtful that he will be kept in his command. Has only to add that the works constructed there appear very inadequate to the enormous sums expended that he must hesitate to affix any signature implying approbation.
