Full Description:
Thomas Monk to Colonel W Tonge. In his last memorial, Monk had informed the Commander-in-Chief that the expense incurred in raising recruits was in expectation of the appointment of field and staff officers agreeable to orders of the Commander-in-Chief [Viscount William Howe] in June 1776 and of consequent vacancies being filled. Hoped Tonge would succeed Lieutenant-Colonel Denson. Has expressed a readiness to try and complete the regiment if it is desired by His Excellency, and would be glad to be helped by him as Lieutenant-Colonel. Wishes him success.
