Captain Depeyster and 25 men sought refuge in a house after seeing the approach by an enemy party and surrendered; an enquiry is to be made about it. Consultation made with Captain Barclay about relieving the army and fleet in the Chesapeake, and forcing French ships from there. Turned down but convoy to New York to sail.
