Full Description:
Robert Adair to Charles Jenkinson. A letter from Argyll Street informing of an incident concerning Mr Laurie, a young man who had been appointed as surgeon by purchase instead of Mr Jeffries, who had received £600 to resign his commission after having been refused leave of absence to settle his private affairs, and this transaction took place without the knowledge of General Clinton. This was the only sale known in the hospital and His Excellency's to be informed of this deception.
