Full Description:
Cornwallis to Germain. Wilmington. Number 9. Report on his march with his troops from Guildford to Wilmington. On the way procurred what supplies he could, and issued a proclamation, taking every means in his power to reconcile enemies and to encourage friends to join them. Had intended to halt at Cross Creek but found it impossible due to lack of provisions and forage there. Was busy since arrival of disposing of the sick and wounded, and procurring the necessary supplies to put the troops in a proper state to take the field. In daily expectation of seeing reinforcements from England and receiving the Commander-in-Chief's directions. Mentions the deaths of officers.
