Full Description:
Benjamin Van Gorder. New York. Gorder was a soldier in the 2nd Battalion New Jersey Volunteers and died upon the march of the army from Philadelphia. He was a good soldier and always behaved well. The bearer, his widow was sent in by the rebels with three children and cannot support herself without some assistance of provisions. Signed by John Morris. Note on the reverse, from Thomas Murray, that Colonel Morris will put Mrs Van Gorder on the provision list.
