Full Description:
Clinton to Jenkinson. New York. Concern that the lieutenancy of Mr Cockell in the 37th Regiment, and then the 60th, has not been approved by the King. Received disapprobation due to changing from the Marines into the regular regiments. Clinton cancelled his commissions and appointed him ensign in 71st, then lieutenant in the same corps, and since his last list of promotions, permitted him to again purchase in the 60th. Asks for the matter to be put before the king, and for a confirmation of these appointments.
