Clinton to Robinson. New York. Is glad to receive the approbation of the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury of having appointed Commissaries of Captures. Has directed Cornwallis to revive the appointment on his taking the field in Carolina. Refers to returns of the Commissary General as to cattle taken from the enemy and issued to the troops. Mentions that Germain desired Mr Hay to continue as Commissary of Captures but as he was only second in the Commission, has requested his Lordship to recommend Colonel Robinson on account of the losses he has sustained by his loyalty and as being the originator of the plan.
