Full Description:
Thomas Simons to Colonel Thomas Clarke. Charlestown [Charleston], South Carolina. Endeavoured to get the flag from Captain Spicer's the 'Endeavour' released, but she has now been driven ashore by a gale, with a loss of both the vessel and its cargo. For further information begs leave to refer to Spicer, and sees no possiblity to getting any remittance from either Carolina or Virginia. Requests Clarke to have tobacco collected so that he may return with proper credentials to received it.
