Full Description:
Campbell to Smith. Halifax. Received previous letter and desires to know the date of his appointment as brigadier. The late McLean appointed Town Major, Charles Lyons to be the Deputy Commissary of Musters in this province. Is glad he anticipated his desire by appointing Mr Finucane his secretary. The late brigadier-general wished the salary to be increased. Regrets the 74th Regiment has not been relieved or sent a field officer to take command. Captain D'Aubant will go to New York by the first opportunity. Received the enclosed from Lieutenant-Colonel Hicks of the 70th Regiment, requests it to be laid before Clinton.
