Full Description:
Clinton to Cornwallis. New York. Due to Le Grasse getting into the Chesapeake and Washington moving with at least 6,000 French and rebel troops, thinks the best way to relieve him is to join him. 4,000 have already embarked. Also mentions Commodore Johnstone has beaten a superior fleet, and begs that Cornwallis will let him know as soon as possible how the troops may be best employed.
