Full Description:
Lieutenant-General Alexander Leslie, Charlestown, to Germain. Was ordered here by Clinton to take command of the Southern Provinces. Gives a detailed account of the local situation and prospects. Withdrawing the troops from the garrison at Cape Fear [North Carolina] as the enemy have 1,500 men at Wilmington under the [Patriot] militia general Rutherford. While he is unable to give news of Washington or the French fleet, provisions and stores are arrived safely, and a supply is sent to Georgia and St Augustine.
