Full Description:
Report of the Magistrates of the Police, made in compliance with His Excellency General Robertson's letter of 29 November 1781, in which was enclosed His Excellency Sir Henry Clinton's letter of the 28 November with George Elliott's memorial to their excellencies His Majesty's Commissioners. Document detailing the establishment and role of policing in New York. The Commandant and Magistrates of Police appointed were to draw a line of conduct in regard to matters connected with the civil powers upon the following plan, numbered from 1-7.
