Full Description:
John Clarke to Robertson. Memorial. From Orange County in the Province of New York, he was one of the first to suffer the fury of this rebellion for having raised a number of men for the Kings service in 1776. He was taken prisoner, escaped and has lost his all. Four of his children are prisoners with the rebels, and his wife and three small children are with him here. Sickness for three months has made it necessary to apply to that 'generous and humane' disposition of His Excellency.
