Full Description:
Smith to Clinton. New York. Petition. That he left a farm in Orange County, entered the service of the government in this city, and was taken by the Americans when passing to Philadelphia. His suffering in jails, &c., have brought on a rheumatic complaint which disqualifies him from labour. Seeks some relief from the royal charity. Signed also by officers of the Provincial Troops, and with a recommendation by William Bayard, 9 February.
