Full Description:
Elizabethtown. Answer given by General Sir Henry Clinton's Commissioners to the proposition made by those of General Washington. Agreement in the main to the four classes of prisoner, with some explanations as to the militia and marauders, &c. Agrees to Tariff 1 but defers opinion on Tariff 2 until Admiral Digby should give further instructions. Any discussion as to the punishment of offenders or release of citizens must be submitted to the respective Commanders-in-Chief. The question of quantity, quality and value of rations is too important to decide until the subsistence of prisoners comes directly into question.
