Full Description:
Major-General Greene to Lieutenant-General Leslie. Headquarters, South Carolina. With regard to Leslie's letter of 'the 4th', the matter is of civil resort and Greene has no contract over the laws of the State, which he later goes on to include within this the internal police. The Governor and the Council are the only ones who possess the powers competent to the business proposed. Noted Headquarters 8 April, enclosed is a copy of a letter to [Nathanael] Greene together with his answer. Submits a proposal for a meeting.
