Knox and Morris to Dalrymple and Elliot. Elizabeth Town. Discussion with regard to the extent of Clinton's powers and the wish of peaceful citizens. Declaration that they should withhold their assent to any proposition by which soldiers in the service of His Britannic Majesty could be demanded in exchange for citizens of America, taken from their houses and domestic occupations. Are happy though to hear and consider any definition of military prisoners which will not involve that consequence.
