On arrival Campbell is to acquaint Carleton of his and their arrival at the first opportunity, along with forwarding him this letter. The safety and protection of Penobscott being an object of much importance, it is recommended he should not judge it in a proper state of defence, and to send a part of the recruits to that place under an approved officer.
