Full Description:
Leslie to Clinton. Camp near Charleston. Is honoured with previous dispatches. In reply refers him to the report of the board of officers respecting the sending of troops from Charleston. Considers such an action would lead to the fall of Charleston or Savannah and that it would be better to evacuate these places than leave them in such a weak state. Also discusses an extract of letter from Clarke, the appointment of Captain Baddely, and the French troops in Virginia. Will send no troops from Charleston until he has a reply to this dispatch.
