Full Description:
Leslie to Clinton. Sorry that His Excellency did not agree with his going to Europe. Assures that independent of his bad state of health and ten years constant service, family matters require it more and more by every letter from home. Refers to General Robertson on this head. There is in this province, one lieutenant-general, two major-generals and two brigadiers besides himself. 'If it is necessary he will return as soon as ever he gets his private concerns settled and assures that he is uncapable of managing the strange perplexed situation of things in these provinces at this present time'.
