Clinton to Washington. New York. Received letter of the '21st instant' with the enclosed testimonials respecting the execution of Captain Huddy. Mentions Washington's use of language, that if the occurence took place as said it was not by his authority, and and that he had already ordered a strict inquiry into the death four days before he had received Clinton's letter.
