Full Description:
Merchants of Charleston to Lieutenant-General Leslie. Charleston. Memorial. Are informed that the Court of Police is precluded by a late order from the Commander-in-Chief from taking cognizance of debts contracted before the surrender of this capital. Represent that the King had signified his royal approbation of the extension of the jurisdiction of that Court to recognise those contracted before the capitualation. Note at the end states that Sir Henry Clinton was never informed of such royal approbation.
