Full Description:
Clinton to Franklin. Headquarters, New York. Have received a copy of an order given to the commissary of the '8th instant' to deliver Captain Lippincott, Lieutenants Huddy and Randolph, and Jacob Fleming in order to be taken down to the [Sandy] Hook [New Jersey] to procure the exchange of Captain Clayton and two other Associated Loyalists. Wanting to know if the exchange took place according to the intentions of the Board along with a report which includes what they know of the death of Captain Joshua Huddy. Clinton orders that no further prisoners be exchanged without first getting his approbation.
