Full Description:
Haldimand to Clinton. Montreal. Mentions the contents of previous dispatches received, and acknowledges the receipt of enclosures sent to him. Discussion includes, Vermont, the part it will take in the war, and what will happen if it does not accept the terms offered. The impossiblity of penetrating far into the country, the assemblance of 3,000 men [i.e. Americans] in readiness to cut off Colonel St Leger, and wintering at Carleton Island. The men receiving 10 guineas each.
