Full Description:
Leslie to Germain. Charlestown. Number 5. A few days after dispatching his letter Number 4, he received Clinton's orders to detach 2,000 troops to Jamaica. Considered it impossible to send so many without endangering Charleston and Savannah so has dispatched only two regiments, consisting of a little over 1,000 men. Sends copies of his dispatches on this subject to Clinton, including the proceedings of two councils of war assembled to settle the matter.
