Full Description:
Leslie to Clinton. Charleston. Discussion with regard to the necessity of increasing the naval force at Charlestown, and the change of disposition of the people in the province. How the late misfortunes of the British and the acts passed by the South Carolina Assembly unite to repress the motives of allegiance to His Majesty's government. [General Nathanael] Greene's army daily increasing, and the intercepted letters mentioning a southward movement of the French. Consideration of the number of troops for the defence of Charleston, and the five officers, seventy men and military stores from a Spanish transport ship being sent as prisoners to Havana with a request of an equal number of British prisoners to be sent here in return.
