Full Description:
Alexander Gillon, Commodore of the [Patriot] Navy of South Carolina, on board the 'South Carolina' off Providence, to John Maxwell, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahama Islands. Offering Don Juan Cagigal's terms under which the Bahamas be surrendered to Spain. Recognises that although the islands have recently been reinforced they are no match for the invaders. Any resistance will be fruitless. Wishes to avoid bloodshed.
