Full Description:
George Hanger to Major Beckwith, aide-de-camp. Received letter from Captain James in respect of his loss of £150, due to the paymaster being robbed at Bergen. He states he has not received a satisfactory answer to his memorial on that subject, and desires the decision and advice of the officers who superintend the Board of Accounts. If payment cannot be granted to him in this country, he wishes for leave of absence from the Commander-in-Chief to allow him to go to England for that purpose, as he is in great need of the £150 having paid it to the troops out of his own subsistence.
