James Penman to Leslie. Charleston. A long letter discussing the numberless inconveniences and distresses that will of necessity result from the evacuation of East Florida. Examples include how destructive it would be to the commerce of Great Britain in that part of America, particularly with the recent reduction of New Providence [Bahamas] and its importance as a frontier against Spanish attacks.
