Full Description:
Earl of Shelburne to Carleton. Whitehall. The Corps of Foot raised in North America are to be called the Irish Volunteers and commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Rawdon, should be placed upon the Irish Establishment. Shelburne is commmanded to signify that the private men of that regiment can be drafted into such other regiments under Carleton's command as he judges proper, and to send the commissioned and non-commissioned officers to Ireland to recruit the said regiment. At the same time he is to send to England such guards as remain at present under his command.
