Full Description:
Browne to Carleton. Bermuda. On his arrival in December last he found the militia in disorder and the forts ruinous. The alarm created by the conquest of the Bahamas has diffused a militarty spirit thoughout the people and the utmost exertions are being made for defence. Requests 500 stand of arms with accoutrements for them. Also that 30 peices of cannon sent to New York for safety by Captain Tollemache in 1775, may be returned. Mr Vandam at New York will receive and forward whatever may be granted on this occassion.
