Full Description:
Carleton to Earl of Shelborne. Number 9. No intelligence has been received from England. The events which have engaged his attention will be found in seperate letters sent by this mail. One of these concerns the unathorised execution of prisoners on the Jersey shore which happened prior to his arrival. The troops are encamped and Carleton has entrusted the town [of New York] in a great measure, to the protection of its militia. Transmits a state of the army.
