Full Description:
John Morrison, Deputy Commissary General, to Brook Watson, Commissary General New York. Charleston, South Carolina. Number 2. That the contract for horses, waggons and carts expires on 'the 30th instant', the day before he takes charge of the Quartermaster General's Department. Will then have only 59 horses, return of which he encloses. Has applied to the General to purchase from the late contractors, 50 waggons and 200 horses to replace those now employed. Is permitted to purchase 12 waggons with 4 horses each, and 6 with 2 each. Shows how these are attached but will then have none for conveying wood to supply the garrison.
