Full Description:
John Tailyour, storekeeper to the British prisoners of war held at Lancaster to His Excellency William Moore and other members of the Council of the State of Pennsylvania. By order of General Washington he had been permitted to establish a shop in the Prisoner of War Camp, to sell to the inmates made up uniforms. The Council appointed William Henry, of Lancaster to inspect the shop. On 1 July he did so and found unauthorised items, whereupon the shop was closed and the stock seized. John Tailyour protests at the injustice of the seizure of his goods.
