Full Description:
Thomas Knox, [?] New Jersey to [Carleton.] writes that John Hutchins, a dragoon has news that a sloop called the 'Dove' answers to the description of the sloop 'William and John' recently stolen and the subject of a circular letter. He reports that she now lies at the wharf and was sold by auction. The crew has escaped. It is thought that the pirates took her to Egg Harbour where she was renamed and brought into the port. Wishes to know whether he should detain the vessel until further notice. [Item No. 5015. Advertisemnets regarding the 'Dove' recently stolen by pirates.]
