Carleton to Washington. A long letter covering several topics of mutual interest: civil appointments; release from detention as the prisoners of war of: clergymen, surgeons, physicians, apothecaries; reports that a Court Martial [of Captain Richard Lippincott for the murder of Joshua Huddy, former commander of the New Jersey Patriot militia] has reached a conclusion and encloses a report of the trial and judgement; and finally, discusses the question of barter of land for POWs.
