Full Description:
Lieutenant-General John Campbell, New York to Don Bernado De Galvez. He writes a long and complicated despatch covering several subjects in strong and angry terms about Galvez's letter to Clinton dated 30 December 1781 [see item number 3999]. He critcises 's Galvez as a leader and a human being and accuses him of deceit and cruelty, and hopes 'he never has to correspond with the Spaniard again'. He adds, by contrast, that he had 'nothing but uncommon politeness and liberal treatment' from Dom Manuel de Cagigal, Governor of Cuba.
