Full Description:
Lieutenant-General Alexander Leslie to Carleton. 'Charlestown. No. 3'. Informs that in March, five Spanish officers and about 75 men were captured by a privateer and brought to Charleston. In an attempt to gain valuable intelligence he ordered Robert Ross under a flag of truce to sail to Cuba and exchange the prisoners for allied prisoners of war. Transmits a copy on the 'Zebra' sloop from 'this port' to [Admiral] Sir George Rodney in the West Indies.
