Full Description:
Leslie, to Carleton. Leslie proposed to Carleton transfering part of the 60th Regiment to his location. However, he has since judged it more expedient to order the Florida Rangers to disembark at Charleston. He proposes keeping them there until Carleton wishes to remove them to New York or St Augustine. If the latter venue is chosen then the Lieutenant-General recommends that Lieutenant-Colonel McArthur would be the the right person to command them. Regarding the desire of Captain McKinnon, Deputy Quartermaster, to travel to New York, his application is supported by Major-General Dalrymple, he is against this as should the fort have to be be evacuated his services would be very much needed. There is also a dire need for supplies of rum.
