Full Description:
Carleton to Sir A S Hammond. New York. I am favoured with your letter of 10 July with its several enclosures, and lament exceedingly that the inhabitants of Lunenburg have suffered so much by the incursions of the enemy. As it is highly probable that your province will soon be put in a very respectable state, I shall in the meantime refer you to Brigadier-General John Campbell commanding on the spot, for any assistance that may be immediately necessary from the military.
