Full Description:
Thomas Freebody, President of the town council to Carleton. Newport [Rhode Island]. When the British troops evacuated this island they carried off the records of this town. As it is conceived that the records can be of no real consequence in the present unhappy dispute between Great Britain and America, they are of considerable importance to the inhabitants of Newport. They request that Carleton orders for them to be returned by the same flag.
